Our History
Our founders, optometrists Dr. Dhavid Cooper and Dr. Guy Hodgson, started as partners in a chain of successful optometry practices in Houston, Texas. But they dreamed of something bigger. They wanted a way to provide patients with a better eyewear selection and more competitive pricing than they could offer in their brick-and-mortar stores. With the Internet just gearing up for e-commerce, the timing couldn't have been better.
Since our launch in 1996, FramesDirect.com has become a hotbed for research and development in optical technology. Not only was FramesDirect.com the first company to sell eyewear online, we were also the first to sell prescription lenses online. Later, we became the first company to sell progressive lenses online, as a result of a groundbreaking mathematical formula developed by the doctors. More recently, we were the first company to develop a virtual eyewear try-on tool and online frame sizing technology.
Lots of things have changed over the years here at FramesDirect.com, but one thing hasn't changed: our commitment to quality and to providing you with the best customer service available anywhere.
Our Commitment to Excellence
Today, FramesDirect.com continues to set the standard for purchasing eyewear online by never wavering on our four core principles:
1) Use only the highest quality lenses
2) Provide excellent customer service
3) Offer the best selection of premium-brand eyewear
4) Sell eyewear at a fair price without sacrificing quality
From day one, Dr. Cooper and Dr. Hodgson have been committed to never selling a pair of glasses they wouldn’t wear themselves, thus ensuring that customers get nothing less than the very best when they shop on FramesDirect.com.
